Music Mountain is the home of the oldest continuing summer chamber music festival in this country. Founded in 1930 as the permanent home for the Gordon String Quartet, one of the leading string quartets of its time, Music Mountain is celebrating its 82nd anniversary in 2011.

The concerts are produced into self contained programs lasting 1 hour 56 minutes with the first being available approximately July 1 and successive concerts available weekly. If the concert is shorter than the 1 hour 56 minutes, all or part of a piece from a past season is included as an "historic encore." (The narration is such that the concert could be ended before the historic encore if desired, resulting in a variable length for each concert.)
