Heidi Chang is an award-winning multimedia journalist and independent producer, who contributes stories about the Asia-Pacific region for radio, television, print and online media.
Her reports have aired on National Public Radio, PRI's The World, Living on Earth, Voice of America, Marketplace, AP Radio, KQED's Pacific Time, Weekend America, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and other sources. Her NPR profile of Hawaiian cultural icon, Nona Beamer, won a national award from the Asian American Journalists Association.
Heidi has worked in TV news and documentaries in San Francisco, Seattle and Honolulu, where she now lives. She has worked as a freelance field producer for ABC’s Good Morning America and ABC News Radio.
She has also written for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, Pacific Business News, Honolulu Magazine, The Honolulu Advertiser, and other publications.
Heidi has lived in Europe, and traveled in Africa and Asia. She began her media career on the airwaves in Hawaii, hosting popular shows featuring jazz, rock, pop, Hawaiian and Brazilian music. In San Francisco, she also hosted shows on KCSM and KBLX The Quiet Storm.
