Comment for "The Second Mom"

This piece was about a girl named Sara Martinez who lives with her younger siblings one of which is autistic that means that he is not just like other kids and things don’t come easy for him so because Sara’s parents work a lot she becomes somewhat of Diego’s (her little brother) caretaker or “second mom”. This is a very hard task that becomes very time consuming. I can relate to her greatly because I have to take care of my younger brothers a lot when my parents go out ,or if they have to work late his is definitely difficult when I’m trying to do school work. But in a way I consider it bonding time. I do consider Sara a hero like her sister mentioned in the piece because she does so much I truly commend her for that. I hope she makes it somewhere with her music because her voice is great. Overall I loved this piece it was very well done.

This piece was really good and interesting to me because I have a few friends that are from other countries I feel as though they have changed greatly from when they first came from their home country I think the American way of life changes some people some for the better and some sadly for the worse, sometimes by being influenced by their peers. I like how in the piece they talked about how the boy being interviewed liked Peru better then America. I wasn't expecting that. overall I really like this piece

A girl on the football team
The piece that I decided to review was a girl on the football team by "y press" I found this piece to be very interesting because I didn't really think that it would be particularly safe for a girl to be playing football being that it is very dangerous and sometimes girls can't take those kinds of hits I know this from experience but I really love how much support the shantel gets from her team mates they try to protect her because guys on the other team go after her because she is the only girl. I think that girls in the NFL is somewhat of a stretch but it might be possible in years to come. overall I really like the piece very it was very well done

The piece that I decided to review was transgender youth by Y press I found this piece to be interesting because I didn't really know much about the transgender community in my opinion I don't see transgender people as a problem people are all the same to me we are all humans living and breathing so why should anyone be treated differently especially in the work place. I find that to be unprofessional in the sense that the transgender person might be more qualified than the other person receiving the job but may not get it because of their sexual orientation. But in all I think that the piece was well done and put together nicely I enjoyed it

The piece that I reviewed was hello Mr. slicken Meyer I found this piece to be very funny and interesting it really had me guessing who this guy was that kept calling and just the simple idea of why he was calling I think that this piece was also really great to me because it’s something me or anyone else could relate to In the sense that we all get crank calls or calls from people who have the wrong number. In all I really like the piece and I felt like it was very well put together especially with the little parts where you could actually hear the voicemails being left

The piece that I decided to review was dear birth mother I really found this piece interesting because o never really realized how difficult it was to get people to adopt African American children I always thought that people saw the babies the same way children are all the same to me but it is clear that not everyone sees it that way. I did like the fact that in the parent classes they had beads to try and bring an understanding to the fact that the neighborhoods that these people live in are not necessarily ones that the African American children would be completely comfortable in but in all I think that this piece was really well put together and informative I enjoyed it a lot.

Comment for "Legal Emancipation"

I chose this piece because I really liked how real and honest Jordan was I liked that’s he made himself so vulnerable and opened up to everyone and showed how difficult his mother is and how hard things were when he lived with his mom . I found it really interesting how he was emancipated at the age of 15 I didn't even know that that was even possible I thought you had to just wait until you were 18 to leave your parents. but one thing that I didn't understand was why he left his mom if there really didn't seem to be a real problem with the family it just seem like his mom was a little bit stressed out with raising to kids on her own and trying to make ends meet but I didn’t seem like Jordan was making it easy for her at all. But above all I think that Jordan became very responsible and grew up well on his own with the help from his roommate. I really liked how he made his piece and I enjoyed it a lot.

i chose this piece because i was really interested in what chernobyl was because i feel like people really should be informed on certain topics like this instead of just judging people baised on what there outside apperance is i really liked how Irina who was born in Belarus stays close to her roots expecially at home i also like how she is trying to make a differance by creating an organization based on the chernobyl disaster. i cant exactly relate to Irina in the sense of me being affected by a disaster but i could relate to her based upon her trying to make a difference an raise awareness. overall i think that the piece was well put together and i liked how she added the phone calls with the doctors i think that she did a really good job

this piece was about a girl named Shirley Diaz's who's father murdered his mother a few years back this left her older sister with 9 siblings i think that this piece was very moving it really made me think about so much about the parents that i have. this story hurt me so much that some one her age had to go through something like that. l see how hard it was for shirley to live to live in a foster home with so many other kids .i understood what she was talking about having a baby and how things would change and make feel like there is a way out .i dont think that she should have rushed into getting pregnant but things happen. when she lost the baby 2 months in she felt like it was a relief in a way im glad that shes trying to make things work on her own. i really loved this piece because it was real you dont hear her crying all day and hating life you see her trying to make a difference in her life by reconnecting with her father and in a sense trying to make the best of the situation

Comment for "Best Couple by Vikky Cruz of Radio Rookies"

:)

the piece that i decide to write about was Best Couple by Vikky Cruz of Radio Rookies
this piece was about a girl named vikky cruz who is a lesbian who has a family who isn't really accepting of how she is i feel like vikky doesn't really know what her families reaction is going to be and that is part of the reason why she hasn't told any one .
i cant really relate fully because of the fact that i am straight but i do have a good friend who is gay though he is not in a relationship he still doesn't know exactly how to tell his family. What i really loved about this piece was that it really showed true love it showed how much the two really cared for each other . through all the trials of a teenage relationship
one thing that i found bad about the piece was the part about the prom and how vicky and dione could be prom queens because they are lesbians i just think that the world has to get out of that mind state. but in all i think the piece was very well put together and informative

Comment for "Money Stress"

This piece to me was very moving it made me really think about how fourtunate i am
i may not have every thing that i want but like erikkas mom ,my mom still tries to make things work
my mom is not so different from erikkas mom in the sense that she gets very upset and stressed over money problems and takes pills to put her to sleep at night though it has never got to the point were my mom was very sick and went to the hospital but theres always a chance .
i can really relate to erikka because she tries every thing to help her mom from selling candy to trying to find a job i do the same thing trying to find little jobs here and there to help my mom out in any way i can
i really loved that even through all of the things she goes through she still stays family orientated
all in all i think that this piece was very moving and interesting i really liked it

Comment for "The "N" Word: It Represents Hatred"

User image

hi =)

This piece hit home for me i feel like it is very true and relevant to my daily life going from kids in my neighborhood all the way to kids in my school.
The "n" word is thrown around so much expecially in the media artist I just recently heard a song called "niggers in paris" i found to to be extremely innopropraite especially being that the artists in the song (jay - z and kanye west ) are two african american males who could use there power an influence to change in so many things but instead they are incouraging bad things .The thing that bothers me most of all is the fact that i dont think people actually know what the actual meaning of the word and how terribly degrading it is to the african american community.
i deffienietly am simular to Veralyn in the sense that the "N" word is not used in my household ever and it was a little confusing when i was young and i began to hear the word used so loosely i didn't understand it because of the fact that i was taught how the word was just as bad as a curse word is
I think that Veralyn's piece was very honest in the sense that she was open enough to admit that even she isn't perfect and that even she uses the word when she is in her comfort zone for example with her boyfriend i think that was interesting because a lot of people do the same thing .But in the end i think that this piece was insightful and really good

hi =)

I found this piece to be interesting mainly because i don't usually hear guys admitting when they are not on top of there school work guys i know usually blow it off an move along they dont take the time out to try and figure out what exactly the problem really is , like kaddem did
what struck me most about the piece (interestingly enough thats the title) was that kaddem seems so driven
hes dont seem to have the same goals as most guys my age which is to become a rapper or a athlete he's more into philosophy i dont really hear that often
another thing that stood out to me in this piece was that he showed other boys his ages point of view of the situation an how they are just like him in the sense that they are just ver lazy . I think that in some aspects it comes down to the community in which the indiviual lives in i think that could change the out come of the persons school intrest

Comment for "My Mother vs. The Streets"

User image

hi

The piece I listened to was mother vs the streets i chose this piece because I think i admired how honest an very personal it was being that the producer shared so much about them self with out holding back.

The piece was about a girl named Jacuyra who talked about growing up in a neighborhood where boys are highly intrested in "bagging girls " I found this piece to be very relateable not in the sense of Jacuyra who is overly intrested in getting the attention from boys but in the sense that I live in a nieghborhood simular to hers where guys try everything to "get in your pants " but in my oppinion it is how you carry yourself I feel like in jacuyra case she wanted to much attention being that she says she met some older guy while wearing some pum - pum shorts walking to the laundrymat .

I think that it all boils down to how you present your self if you present your self respectfully you will get respect . i think that is the same in all nieghborhoods
