Traci Tong joined the staff of THE WORLD at the program's inception in 1995. Throughout her tenure with the program, Tong has served as the director of the daily broadcast, a news producer, and an occasional contributor,
Before joining THE WORLD Traci worked as a reporter, assistant news director and anchor at KERA, North Texas Public Broadcasting in Dallas where she covered politics on the state and national level. Her investigative reports on civil liberties issues, racism and discrimination in North Texas garnered her numerous awards.
Traci got her start in her home state of Hawaii where she worked for Hawaii Public Radio as the state capital correspondent. She is a longstanding national representative of UNITY: Journalists of Color and a member of the Asian-American Journalists Association.
