DimeStories are three-minute stories read by the author. Hosted by Amy Wallen, founder and host of DimeStories Live readind series since 2004 and now DimeStories radio series, these tiny stories are often funny, poignant and always thought-provoking. Host, Amy Wallen is a best-selling novelist, Los Angeles Times frequent contributing book critic and comedienne. DimeStories was brought to the attention of public radio by producers Jay Allison, James Spring and Viki Merrick.

DimeStories are compelling narratives that measure just three-minutes long and are read by the author. They may be funny, tragic, or strange. DimeStories originated from an open mic sponsored by San Diego Writers, Ink and founded by host Amy Wallen. The reading series grew to a monthly attendance of over 100 and has expanded to traveling showcase events in Los Angeles, New York City and now a permanent open mic in Orange County. Other programs include the DimeStories Dime-Off with prompts to write to and a jury of peers, university creative writing program competitions, quarterly staged showcase events and private shows. DimeStories were produced with help from James Spring, Jay Allison, and Viki Merrick at Atlantic Public Media in Woods Hole, Massachusetts and supported, in part, by the Open Studio Project with funds from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
