Musical Judgment

Judging people based on the type of music others listen is something that most people do without realizing it. Musical Judgments is a piece that brings the listener's awareness on this subject.
In the technical side of the piece I can say that an intro to the problem or subject would have been helpful; maybe the intro could have had some music or something that would make it visual to keep the listener's attention. Another thing that could improve the piece is editing the background noisy because it doesn't rally add to the piece and it is just distracting. An outro would have also been nice, maybe even having a recommendation of the producer's opinion on the subject.

Overachiever

I think the piece is good. The only thing I could recomend is to make the intro a little more interestig as well as an outro. The narrator's voice is good and the fact that is Erin telling the story just makes it more real.

Comment on "Voices About Suicide"

This piece tells us how a group of people was affected when someone close to them committed suicide, they also tell us their thoughts on this very serious topic.
The overall flow of the piece is good, I think the music adds to the piece and helps the piece flow nicely.
At some points it hard to differentiate the person speaking so maybe a different way to transition from one peron to the next would be helpful.
This is a very personal and sensitive piece about a serious and sad topic.

Comment on "Does Biology Class Really Matter"

This piece brings up a very interesting point given that most students ask themselves this question while attending school. "Does Biology Class Really Matter" shows how a high school Biology class can affect our views on the environment when we grow up and can even help us help the environment in our own way.
The voice of the narrator is clear and invites the listener to keep listening. The technique is also good and the interviews add to the piece and make it more real. Overall the piece flows nicely and is a good way for us students to realize that those "boring classes" can actually affect our lives in a positive way in the future.

Comment on "From High School to High Security"

In this piece Reginald Dwayne Betts tells us how life in prison was for him at the young age of 16 and for the 9 years that followed.
The fact that it is Reginald who narrates the story makes it more real and personal. His voice and pacing are good so the listener can assimilate and visualize the story. I think that is good that no music was used because it could distract the listener and it wouldn't add to the story. Maybe an intro that explains how he got there would add to the piece. Overall it is a moving piece with a lesson.

Review of Coming Out for Politics

This is a very honest and personal piece with a message that can apply to everyone's lives. Bryce starts us up with the experience that led him to notice that when History was being made around him he couldn't (or just wasn't) part of it by advocating for himself and what he believes in, like many teens do (by being youth activists). Bryce then realized that he was making a difference by just being himself and standing on his beliefs on a daily basis, and that he didn't need to go on the streets with a poster to make a difference. I think this is a piece that many teens (like me) can relate to because not all of us can be like the typical youth activist, but if we do something so easy like being true to ourselves everyday by defending our views we can still make a difference.

In the technical aspect I must mention that the narration and pacing really give the listener a clear picture of the events which makes it more easy to follow. I really liked the humorous and so honest tone used; I think it keeps the listener engaged. The outro gave me a feeling of hopefulness and the idea that I can too make a difference.

Review on Sex Without Condoms

This is a honest and relaxed piece about a very concerning but true theme. The narrator's voice as well as the flow of the piece are good. The intro does a really good job in getting the listener's attention and the rest of the piece keeps it that way. I liked the use of the music which I think creates a somewhat humorous atmosphere. The engineering of all the sounds, music, etc. are good. I really like the "real" feeling that the piece has, and the fact that it is a guy's voice is interesting because because most times it seems that only girls think about this theme. I think the narrator's opinion on the theme (if it is ok or not) would make the piece more interesting, maybe that would have created a little more discussion making the listener think about which side she/he would take.

Really informative

Are you someone who has heard about the Taliban but doesn't know quite what it is? Thanks to Emily Hage's strong reporting, we can all get to know the basics of this controversial group.
This is a concise, informative, and professional piece that gives you the facts so you can then create your own opinion on the topic. Emily's clear voice helps to keep the listener's attention, and the pacing, and order of events help to follow the interesting but sometimes complicated facts. The piece is easy to follow thanks to the lack of distractions such as music or background noise, but it would be helpful to have the definition of some terms that aren't common knowledge for many listeners. A more inviting intro before the "cold facts" would add to it, as well as an outro that resumes the main points. The interviews add a personal and real feeling.
This is an interesting piece about a complex topic that is worth listening to.
