Former US Marshal MacMasters is confronted by a moral choice, to follow what is lawful or what is humane. And intersting morality play.

Review of POWDER RIVER. Season 1. Episode 12: THE WINE OF LIFE (deleted)

This well done western, patterned after the radio dramas of the 1940's and 50's, tells the story of a tightly knit group of residents who find themselves bound together for mutual aid and defence and all that that means for each of them in a hostile environment that can turn deadly at any moment. This well done series highlights different characters and different issues each week as events and characters come in and out of the plot. As the personalities of the characters are revealed over time within the series, we get to know and care about them the way the characters themselves care for one another. And as a side benefit, real historical events are portrayed accurately, so we actually can learn some REAL stuff!

An old prospecter, Charlie Parker, comes back to town after a 5 year absence and criminal activity picks up. Chad gets tied up in the adventure surrounding the mythical "lost mine" fable that Charlie tells him about . This western series is much like those radio dramas of the 1940's and '50's.

Doc Harrington is featured in this episode, as he is forced to deal with his past and some very emotional issues. His usual gruff exterior and "tell it like it is" nature come in handy as the light is flashed squarely on Doc. Chad befriends an elderly vistor to Clearmont who is obviously dying and wants to find some closure in her life. The great music and well played roles make this an interesting episode that helps to reveal some of the series' characters' personalities.

As former US Marshall Britt MacMasters deals with the consquences of his sworn enemy's having found him once again, Britt is also forced to deal with a very dark and pivital event that brought him and his son, Chad to Clearmont in the first place. It is a test of the strength of the bond that father and son share. A pivitol episode in the life story of Britt MacMasters, and very well done, with usic and sound to augment the emotional atmosphere of this episode. A really good one!

As the residents of Clearmont, Wyoming struggle to make sense of the loss of one of the town's pivitol residents, a gang sworn to kill former marshall, Britt MacMasters closes in for the kill. This suspense filled episode brings the core cast members together for mutual protection and support with the results being a well done, suspenseful western high adventure and drama galore! Great music and tons of sound effects carry the action forward. I love this series and this is part of the ending sequence of episodes that tie up the whole season's action.

Review of POWDER RIVER Season 1. (deleted)

This is a fun series with some pretty universal messages about human behavior and the consequences that result from that behavior. Patterned on the old time radio westerns, these little morality plays contained within each episode unfold to reveal the values of the resident characters of the town and the visitors who enter and leave each week. Powder River harkens back to a simpler time but explores spme pretty up to date ideals. Sound effects are awesome and the music moves the action! Love it!

We learn a bit about Chad's character and sense of values in this episode, a little morality play about parents and how relationships with children change over time and what parents and children can learn from one another. Sweet.

A wild west tale that introduces a former lawman and his son and the inhabitants of a small Wyoming town. Through the interaction of the characters, we get some insight into what life might have been like on the frontier. Reminiscent of 40's & 50's radio and early television westerns like THE SIX SHOOTER or THE LONE RANGER or ROY RODGERS AND DALE EVANS. Just right.
