Review of A Musician's Life: Justin Townes Earle

Well produced! Sounds like a typical musician who grows up not liking his father, drinks, and does drugs. I liked the music, and the piece flowed. However, the message was not particulary inspiring-nor did it teach, or have any sort of lesson built in.

Review of What is Hypnosis?

Believing is seeing! This piece tells of the entertainer who uses hypnosis, as well as its science and theraputic use. Various stages of hypnosis are discussed, as the ability to focus comes into play. Hypnosis can be a valuable tool, but takes time and patients to employ. It's unfortunate that todays medicine is usually a quick fix -by way of drugs. With time we all have the ability to use various stages of hypnosis to help ourselves. Some start by slow breathing, to a quiet focus, to meditation. The show is enjoyable and gives an overall view of hypnosis. The various interviews keeps this short, moving..............good job.

Review of Ed Fowler, Master Bladesmith: Portrait of a Wyoming Knife-Maker

Ed Fowler is a master bladesmith that is respected in the field of knife making. This informative piece just touches on the complexities of the forging/heat treating process involved in making metal pure, thus adding stregnth to the steel we refer to as mans oldest tool, Ed calls his knives a lady becauses it serves him, but respects and cares for his lady in return.Ed certaintly has an Interesting view of steel objects in the form of a functional knife. He sees it as a friend and as a companion. As a knife owner I understand the relationship one has with the style and function of such an art form.
If you have never carried a knife, given a chance, you will soon understand why it becomes such a part of your being.
Overall its good to know an artist who works with steel is still an artist-just maybe not the type your use to hearing about. This form of art is indeed a skill, and takes a unique form of passion to appreciate. Enjoyed it!

Review of Music Therapy for Children

This presentation of how music works to help children, is a testimonal of the power of music . It begins with a brief synopsis of the history and use of music as therapy, then goes into a personal case history of a youngster who was born premature with loss of vison in one eye. A shy child begins to open up and thus helped to speak through the use of music-or music therapy.
I enjoyed the overall message, and hope that this form of treatment becomes more and more accepted in the mainstream so as to make it available to everyone who needs this type of healing.

Review of David Bouchier Essay: The Voice of Authority (deleted)

Well said commentary on what the media is doing to create.. what they call, entertainment at the expense of others. It indeed makes me question what has happened to individuals that need this type of negitive attention to make life worth while. What ever happened to the days of creating fun out of thin air, or playing with a stick in the sand. Must we poke fun at others or feel grace in being made fun of. We must begin to bring each other up....and yes laughing at ones self can be a sign of a good self esteem.

Review of Radio Lab, Show 405: Pop Music

This is one of the best produced shows I have heard in a while. As a professional Music Therapist I found the subject engaging and informative. The question of how music effects people and behavior in touched on in many ways. The info is edited and music is used to enhance the show. I recommend this show to anyone who wants to understand the mind and its connection to music. Well done!!
