Review of The Ice hotel

Very creative choice of topic and the story is well crafted as the producer discusses the "Ice Hotel's" complete assault on the senses. It is easy to envision a feeling of calm & serenity even in the harsh environment.

The producer was very thorough and insightful by examining many subtle humanistic nuances of the "Ice Hotel". Sleeping on a bed of ice, the 'relative' warmth within the hotel, etc.

As a production tool, going directly into the story is a great way to quickly pull the listener into your story but, unless explained shortly thereafter, can leave the listener uneasy.

If you absolutely want to begin with the monologue, after setting the tone you can give your audience an introduction...what are they getting into for the next 30 minutes?

Review of GB, MB, GHZ, Oh My!, Making sense of computer specs

Despite the producer's upbeat and engaging voice this short piece may be recieved by PR listeners as too elementary. My grandmother would listen to this and benefit, but this effort is lost on most baby boomers and Gen Xers. She uses good comparisons to human memory and productivity, additionally she identifies the misconceptions of GHz speed and how computers are marketed. I doubt you'd find this kind of piece on NPR but it might fit into CBC "Quirks & Quarks"

Review of Viagra:

This is a solid informational piece with an upbeat and jovial guest making for a good addition to "All Things Considered" type of programming. Uses humorous anecdotes about the discovery, history, and [mis]use of Viagra to draw the listener into accepting Viagra as legitimate. This segment's light tone is well suited to contribute to lessening the social stigma of Viagra.

Review of Nascar Dad, Soccer Mom: Who's Next? (deleted)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------The author is commenting on the prolific use by media of personifying lifestyle with this two-word construction. His delivery is sharp and rapid-fire as if he is trying to read through an endless list of psyhcographic generalizations. A bit of a quick talker (maybe too quick), but the pace is complementary to his message.
