Review of (My)Space Invaders

I can COMPLETELY relate to this piece. It's so awkward when situations like this occur with myspace! One time last year, someone came up to me and said "i know you from myspace!!" I was officially creeped out by that person. *delete* there goes my myspace. Okay so enough about me.... I'm sure thousands of teenagers can relate to this piece. I like how the reporter goes into detail about his experience with these "myspace invaders." (which is such a tricky phrase too! I love puns!) But maybe he can get others experiences too. Has he ever told someone "oh I know you from myspace!"? Also the quality of the recording could be improved slightly, esspecially toward the end where his voice fades in and out.

Review of Magnolias and Lighthouses: An Interview With The Hush Sound

When I saw "The Hush Sound" in the title of this piece, I immediately wanted to listen to it. Any piece about a music band who I like (or who I think I should like in this case) will excite me. The reporter did a good job at asking complex questions that bands do not usually get ask. She seemed to want to find out new information about The Hush Sound other than the same old boring information that one can easily find on line. That being said, the questions did sound a little scripted. Have some fun with it! You don't have to read directly off your paper! If anyone is interested in music and what goes on behind the songs you love, I would recommend this piece!

Review of Attention Deficit Drugs Black Market on Campus

I thought this piece was very intriging for me to hear and read. As a senior in high school with ADHD, this piece has made me wonder what pressures will occur next year. Will I become a victim of this new fad? I liked hearing the different perspectives on this issue, esspecially the student who had faked having an attention disorder. I never really would have thought of a student doing that, though I understand it now that it has been brought to my attention. Overall, this piece was very well done.

Review of Comfort Food

Ohhhh... comfort food, whoever invented you? The choice of music was quite fitting, the subject of the song matches the piece and the jazzy style didn't bring too much attention to itself. I liked how the vox-pop style was intertwined with the interview of the food expert. Being Jewish, I esspecially enjoyed the clip of the person who's comfort food was "matza ball soup" (delicious).
I think that there could be more narration added to the piece to clarify who was talking when. When the food expert first spoke, I wasn't completely clear on who she was.

Over all, good piece! It makes me hungry!

Review of Oakland Scenes: Snapshots of a Community

I am in love with this piece.

i listen to probably once a week, at the least and can recite most of it (well what i can understand). I love how it's like a song. And I love the story line/plot line. This is an amazing piece that I envy. I love the ending where the producer says "peace" so quietly that you don't notice it until after listening to it mutiple times.

This is just an all-around amazing piece.

Review of Teen Marriage

This piece reminds me of "That's 70s Show" when lovebirds Donna and Eric get engaged shortly after graduating from High School. It has also made me think about the topic of Teen Marriage at a different angle than I have before. Hellen does a good job showing both sides of the topic from a teens perspective. Excellent piece!!

Review of Dressy Girls

This piece made me think about my clothing and why I'm wearing these jeans. I know that i wouldn't chose pants "based on how tight my pants were on my butt." It's interesting for me to listen to girls who choose their style and clothing, or lack there of, based on completely different reasons. These girls base their clothing on attracting guys, while I just wear what i think is pretty. I also liked the 17 magazine quotes. In the beginning though, when the girls are saying what they're wearing, it is hard to understand exactly what they are saying. I like the overlapping idea, but maybe the volume on one of the voices can be turned down.
