Well-grounded in reality, Mr. Pruitt has been a partner in two major businesses, a financial analyst, a real-estate agent, and a property manager involved in both buying and selling many different kinds of holdings. He was even ordained as a minister in 1995, but then didn’t feel that the Church was leading the way for change in America, prompting him to strike out on his own to make a difference. Never one for sitting still, he has lived in Alabama, California, and Michigan before landing in his present spot in New York City, moves that have given him a real understanding of what American lives are like in many parts of the country.
Mr. Pruitt’s interest in politics goes back as far as he can remember. While the other boys had G.I. Joes that were bashing each other’s brains out in backyard wars, he reports that his action figures were working out treaties and diplomatic solutions to their problems. As an adult he created UrRepublic, to give him a way of letting his voice be heard and sharing the truth with as wide an audience as possible. As a Black American, many expect him to take political sides, but he feels that it is more important for him to speak the truth no matter whom he might offend.
