"Illuminations: Jewish Culture in the Light of the World" is a series of 3 hour-long audio documentaries exploring aspects of Jewish life in relation to the broader society. These programs grapple with fundamental questions of how to pass our cultural identity to the next generation, how to preserve our own identity in the face of a changing American landscape and how to respect our neighbors' differences in this diverse society.

"Illuminations" employs an innovative style, weaving dramatic and musical threads into a documentary format. The series is a co-production between award-winning radio producer Claire Schoen and ensemble members of the theater company, A Traveling Jewish Theatre (TJT). Each program in this series draws its inspiration from one of the plays that TJT has written and produced. Excerpts from these plays are used throughout the radio pieces, as jumping off points for interviews and stories. Original music was written for each piece. And narration reflects the journey taken by ensemble members as they researched and performed the plays.
