Bud Brown is known for singing Iris DeMent's "Let the Mystery Be". A few years ago, his relationship to the song changed: Bud's wife became terminally ill, and she asked him to sing it at her memorial service.

Bud Brown is a member of the All Worn Out Jug Band on Cape Cod, MA. One of his signature songs is Iris DeMent's "Let the Mystery Be". When Bud's wife became terminally ill, she asked him to sing the song at her memorial service. Since then, he's been called upon to sing it at other funerals for friends and loved ones. Bud describes singing the song as "a duty and a gift, a joy and a heartbreaker." He talks about helping people who are "facing the mystery" - and what it's like to face the mystery himself.
