You step out into the emerald haze. There is a house in the distance, warm and orange, and you need to reach it.  As you walk towards it, hands reach out of the haze and gently pull at you, grabbing and releasing your clothes.  You feel an urgency in your chest, and you begin to sprint. More and more hands appear out of the fog, dragging along your cheeks.  

You realize with a start that you have been standing still for some time now, but you cannot figure out exactly how long.

Suddenly a body is right up against your side.  You feel lips brush your ear as they whisper:

"This is the first episode of Pings From The Abyss, a show made by you for you.  Tonight's episode features performances by Alvin Lucier and the Chipmunks, Petra Boo and the Goo Goos, Wilburn Jetsett, The Turntables, Wiggle Jeff, and Big Big Big Big Big Big Land, as well as a recording of Boy Scouts from the Alan Lomax archives."

A probing tongue licks your ear.  Or is it a tongue?  Could it maybe be some cold metal device, with qualities complicated beyond even your greatest understanding?

You gasp, and the house in the distance begins to melt...
