A Day in the Life of Nadeem

From World Vision Report | 06:09

Far from the fighting, hundreds of miles away in Karachi, life goes on as usual. Karachi is the commercial hub of Pakistan – a city of 14 million. People from all over the country go there to work in banking, law and real estate. But many children work in Karachi as well, helping their parents put food on the table. Child labor is illegal in Pakistan, but those restrictions are widely ignored, and it’s estimated up to 19 million children are in the work force. Reporter Jessica Partnow spent a day with a child laborer who’s in a program that helps kids go to school WHILE they work.

Stuck in the Mud

From World Vision Report | Part of the Michael Kavanagh's Murrow Award Winning Trio series | 03:41

Being a reporter that travels to the far corners of the world sounds exciting, but reporter Michael Kavanagh reminds us in a Reporter’s Notebook that journalism can be tedious and frustrating. On a recent visit to Chad, the car he rented got stuck in the mud for five hours. The glamor of being an “international reporter” faded in the mire of a rain-soaked road -- especially when some women rode by on mules, laughing at his plight.
