Dance Church

From Steve Ray | 04:59

I sit at a stoplight on a Sunday morning, held up by the usual church traffic. But I’m not going to church; I’m going to dance. For over 20 years a group of Austin, Texans have been meeting weekly to dance. Ecstatic dances happen throughout the country but are still relatively unknown. For those who frequent the weekly service in Austin, Texas, it is a place to free their minds and reconnect with themselves and the community around them. In verbalizing the spiritual aspect of dance, the congregants consistently mention love. A theology boiled down to love: seems to be working.

Introducing Christian China and the end of times

From Steve Ray | Part of the Christian China and the end of times series | 02:19

For the past several months I have been covering the largest religious conversion the world has ever seen, Christianity in China. It is a story that is confusing yet oddly familiar. It’s littered with corruption, persecution, perseverance, and a host of wild characters. Christian China and the end of times dips a toe into this incredible transformation and attempts to deduce what it means for the rest of the world.

Part 2: Christian China

From Steve Ray | Part of the Christian China and the end of times series | 30:53

We travel to China and find ourselves dancing in between the communist government and religion, outsiders and Christianity, parents and the next generation of Chinese youth, and seeing first hand the largest religious conversion in history.

For the past several months I have been covering the largest religious conversion in history, happening now: Christianity in China. It is a story that is confusing yet oddly familiar. It’s littered with corruption, persecution, perseverance, and a host of wild characters.  “Christian China and the end of times" dips a toe into this powerful transformation and reveals how China's conversion to Christianity will be the most consequential event of the 21st century.
