Picking the perfect Pumpkin...we have all done it, and many of us would love to be doing it again. This piece certainly took me back to a wonderful place..THE PUMPKIN PATCH. One like I see every year on that cute Little Great Pumpkin cartoon with Charlie Brown and gang. Yes, it is about the experience, and this piece captured it well.

Review of Sarah Palin Will Deliver the Vote (deleted)
If one looks hard enough one will find things to be paranoid about. I am an unabashed Palin fan..Apparently I do not fit the Authors model as I have a Masters degree. He certainly has his opinions, but it would have made for a much more impact full piece if he had talked to supporters with brains and educations. One can argue if 1.5 years as governor is enough experience, versus 1.5 years in the senate, or even less if one goes back to Edwards. None the less, pieces like this need more voices to make it truly credible.
The premise of this piece is quite good, however, in my opinion it suffered some in the execution. The first minute and half was really marred by recording people's answers in very noisy environments where you can barely hear the answers clearly. While this may add atmosphere and an edgy feel, it would make it very frustrating to listen to in the car, (and we know how many of us only listen to radio in the car.) While other folks liked that fact that the question every one is answering is never actually asked, I think it would have been nice to verbalize it at least once.
The plus side is that people gave interesting answers, and many of them had to think very hard to do so.
I just happen to think that the piece would have benefited from some technical and editing improvements to make it more "Listener friendly"...Particularly for those of us ensconced in cars already surrounded by to munch ambient noise.
Jake is a skeptic, who belongs to a ghost hunting group. Admittedly a pretty good concept for a short Halloween piece. He provides some good insight into life and death, and does so with an engaging wry wit. I suspect many who hear the first minute or two of the piece might be a little disappointed as they will not get first hand insight into what haunts a graveyard , however, if they stick with it, they will likely smile and nod appreciatingly at Jakes observations.
This should make nice short filler for the week of Halloween, when all of us begin contemplating this world and the next.

"THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW" (deleted)
I will make no bones about it, this story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving has always been one of my favorites. The simple reason being that Mr. Irving knew how to tell a tale, a wonderfully spooky tale! This production by The Colonial Radio Theatre is superior to any others I have ever heard because they stick with Mr. Irving"s words and his vision for the story. The actors are in fine form, and the music score is absolutely wonderful. This production even manages to throw in a musical number which compliments and progresses the story perfectly. (Those who know the book will notice that the song lyrics are straight from Mr. Irving's pen).
I grew up along the banks of the mighty Hudson, near the Tappan Zee. So, to me, Sleepy Hollow is Halloween. Every year, religiously, I make a big mug of hot mulled cider, set up the stereo, and listen to this amazing version of an American classic. It is superb. Audiences across the country deserve to be reintroduced to this perfect Halloween tale. One that is suitable for all ages.
This is a crisp clean modern reading on Poe's classic THE RAVEN. I enjoyed the readers voice and the fine use of music underscoring. Being a relatively short piece (under 10 minutes), it easily managed to hold my attention.
