About Me
Prior to my life as a radio producer, I was Production Director and Weekend Morning Man for one of the Disney/ABC owned stations in Washington, DC.
Before DC, I was on air mostly in morning or afternoon drive in Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Providence, Ft. Lauderdale, Wichita, Pontiac and Lansing, Michigan.
With ABC, I created specials encompassing a huge variety of subjects such as Music, Television, Sports, Movies, Trivia, Comedy, Year-end Reviews, Holidays, History, POWs and MIAs.
In Washington, I won or was finalist in the AIR Awards (Achievement In Radio, DC) 14 times in 10 years, including Best Talent and Best Talk Show. In Ft. Lauderdale I produced a thirty-part Halloween series, "Some of My Best Friends Are Haunted" that was nominated for Entertainment Special of the Year in the annual Billboard Magazine Radio Awards.
I've interviewed hundreds of top names such as comedian, now Senator, Al Franken, TV hosts George Stephanopoulos and Johnny Carson, plus entertainers Bob Hope and Rich Little, actors Rod Steiger, Carol Channing, and M.A.S.H's Mike Farrell; Activist Erin Brockovich; Football favorites Darrell Green and Terry Bradshaw, and woman soccer star Mia Hamm.
Musicians include The Beach Boys' Mike Love, Gordon Lightfoot, Dionne Warwick, Henry Mancini, James Ingram, Peter Allen, The Oak Ridge Boys, Caterina Valente, John Denver, Tony Bennett, Frankie Valli, Neil Sedaka, and Sha Na Na's Scott Simon.
Also, the first American to climb Mt. Everest, Jim Whittaker; one of the first men on the moon, Buzz Aldrin; General Norman Scwarzkoff; politician Howard Dean, plus numerous Senators and Congressmen such as John McCain and Barney Frank, plus NRDC attorney Robert Kennedy, Jr. and former Nixon counsel, John Dean.
I've performed at the Kennedy Center, MC’d for Henry Mancini, and introduced Tony Bennett and the Count Basie Orchestra at Wolf Trap Park.
But it hasn't always been radio. I spent a few years as a car designer at Ford Motor Company and as the Public Information Director for the Rhode Island Division of the American Cancer Society. Most recently I've done commercial and video game voice-over, and helped non-profits with marketing, graphic design, and public relations.
You can hear my VoiceOver demos and hear me host the "Smoothest Hits of the '70s, '80s, & '90s" on "glide789" at www.CharlieWarrenProductions.com.
