Jay Allison is an independent broadcast journalist. His work airs on NPR's All Things Considered, PRI's This American Life, ABC News' Nightline, and other national programs. He is the recipient of five Peabody Awards and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's Edward R. Murrow Award for outstanding contributions to public radio, the industry's highest honor.
His broadcast production credits include productions and collaborations like Lost & Found Sound, The Miles Davis Radio Project, Life Stories, The Sonic Memorial Project, Beyond Disability, Animals and Other Stories, and Hidden Kitchens. He is currently the host and Curator of This I Believe on NPR News.
Allison is the Executive Director of Atlantic Public Media, a non-profit organization he founded to create WCAI & WNAN & WZAI, the public radio service for Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket and Cape Cod, where Allison and his family live.
