One of Australia's premier community radio stations, 4MBS ClassicFM is one of three stations operated by the Music Broadcasting Society of Queensland, along with Silver Memories and MBS Light.
4MBS ClassicFM has received many awards for contributions to broadcasting in Australia and the promotion of young and emerging artists & musicians through many school, university and community based activities. 4MBS ClassicFM is a past recipient of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia's Radio Station of the Year award.
The Music Broadcasting Society of Queensland has a small number of paid staff and about 300 volunteers covering all aspects of each station's operation. As well as broadcasting 24 hours a day every day of the year, the the society presents a series of events each year promoting classical music, including the annual 4MBS Festival of Classics - Australia's largest classical music festival.
The Society is supported by annual subscriptions, donations and bequests, grants, sponsors and a range of fundraising activities.
