WEOS is a non-commercial, public radio station licensed to Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Geneva, NY, by the Federal Communications Commission, broadcasting at 89.7 MHz, with a power output of 4000 watts. We broadcast from studios located at 113 Hamilton Street (Routes 5 & 20), in Geneva, and our transmitter is located in town of Gorham on Lake to Lake Road. WEOS also broadcast at 90.3 MHz from a translator, W212BA, located on Winn Seeley Gym on the campus. WEOS broadcasts 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our signal covers an area from west of Canandaigua to the Western suburbs of Syracuse, from Lake Ontario to Ithaca. Depending on your radio and antenna, the lay of the land, and your distance away, reception can be less or greater than the above coverage area. In addition, for our listeners that have access to the Ithaca cable system, Time Warner Cable, WEOS can be heard on their FM service at 98.9FM. WEOS also broadcasts at 88.1FM in Ithaca, from Translator station W201CD.
Our programming features a selection of news, music, sports, public affairs, and other programs of both a local and national interest. WEOS is a member of National Public Radio, NPR, and Public Radio International, PRI. We also air modern rock, folk, jazz, world, blues, reggae, rap, R&B, gospel, and latin music. WEOS tries to present music and programs that are not always available on other stations in the area. In addition, WEOS provides a local source of area events coverage, including live local concerts, speakers, debates, and news. Most of our live local programming is during the evenings and on weekends.
