When you put one castaway and eight records together in conversation, it’s hard to stop listening. Each week people from all aspects of life are asked the question, if you were to be cast away alone on a desert island, which eight records would you choose to have with you, assuming of course, that you had a listening device and an inexhaustible power source. Desert Island Discs gives the listener a unique entrée into the lives of "ordinary" people living their lives in "extraordinary" ways employing an engaging mixture of curiosity, intelligence and warmth.

It's a milestone season for one of the longest-running chamber-music series on public radio: Chamber Music from the Spoleto Festival USA returns with new host Lisa Simeone in a series of 13 one-hour concerts that mark the final season of Spoleto's venerable and one-of-a-kind Chamber Music Artistic Director Charles Wadsworth. The series features great guest artists, including violinist Chee-Yun, cellist Alisa Weilerstein, and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet joining such Spoleto mainstays as the St. Lawrence String Quartet, flutist Tara Helen O'Connor and clarinetist Todd Palmer in a season of concerts that is a true collection of "greatest hits" of Charles Wadsworth's Spoleto years. Wadsworth and his successor, St. Lawrence first violinist Geoff Nuttall, introduce each work with their typically humorous, engaging, and unique stage commentary. Also available with excerptable modules and a robust support website www.spoletochambermusic.org. Co-Produced by South Carolina ETV & Radio + WDAV Classical Public Radio.
