Thanksgiving and other One-Hour Specials Featuring an In-Depth History of a Current Holiday Interspersed with Lively Music Well-Suited for the Timely Occasion -- Programs purchased by Capital Public Radio, KBYI, KDLG, KDNK, KGLT, KHNS, KGOU, KIAL, KSFR, KTXT, KUHB, KXPR, KUT, KZQX, Oregon Public Broadcasting, PRI, Public Interactive, WCPN, WDNA, WLNZ, WRVO, WYPL, WYSO and others via NPR-PRSS.

Although the history of a given holiday is the focus of the program, careful attention is given to weaving in cheerful and festive music that is tailor-made for the particular occasion. The goal of the music breaks is to refresh the listener and provide maximum enjoyment to keep his attention and interest sparked and her senses filled with titillation during a bright and bouncy program that educates with information not normally known or heard before.

The music coordinator for the program selects and assembles a variety of melodies from America and Europe and works with the research writers to coordinate the musical pieces with the historical text being presented. As the program progresses, the goal of the music is to relate to and spark up the tidbits of history-related information. For each program in the series, a great effort is made to acquire new releases of musical pieces and new arrangements of traditional pieces never aired anywhere else before. Each program will also use a few original top-of-the-line classical, evergreen recordings. Your listeners will know they have heard something delightfully different -- and a purpose designed into each program is to cause the listener to want to return to your station for the next holiday program in the series every year and to hear and envision the value of having one's own membership in your station.

All pieces are produced as special one-hour programs. Customization to accomodate local needs is possible. Promos of various lengths are provided for each special.

The first piece in the series is entitled, "The Thanksgiving Hour -- 2005." (The year in the title is changed as the years progress -- and the content is refreshed with the production of each new program.)

Your listeners will hear the true history of the Thanksgiving holidays of North America. It seems that few know that Canada's first Thanksgiving predated the Pilgrims by some 43 years. The Pilgrims' pre-history in Europe is covered. Hide full description
