Consensus is a weekly exploration of the global cooperative movement and its transformative effects on communities and economies around the world. Following the recent financial crisis, cooperatives and credit unions have become a new alternative to those looking for a democratic form of economic development and sustainability. From recognisable brands like REI and Ocean Spray to small start-ups in struggling neighborhoods, coops take all shapes and sizes, and operate with a shared set of values.

The weekly, half-hour program will be made available via radio stations and podcast. We’ll bring you three segments per week, starting with the headlines of the week, followed up by an in-depth conversation with leaders and influencers within the movement, and concluding with a feature from a local station about a cooperative in their area. It will be released on Fridays into the public domain and distributed via PRX, archive.org, a podcast/RSS feed, and the website Consensus.coop. Hide full description
