PRX and NPR are pleased to announce the new Fall 2011 Season of State of the Re:Union (SOTRU) with Al Letson. Using an unforgettable blend of storytelling, music and tempo, SOTRU engrosses listeners in true stories of people building and rebuilding communities through relationships, sacrifice, contribution and spirit.

Each of these five new episodes focuses on one American city or town and features interviews, commentary, recordings, listener-generated letters and music.

Fall in love with the country in your own backyard, and discover the rich American experiences unfolding all around us.

In State of the Re:Union (SOTRU), Al Letson travels the country to find compelling stories of community, and tell them with honesty, perspective, and deep curiosity. Stories of community can become cliché in public media – Al Letson finds the people who make them relevant, surprising and nuanced.

For the show's Fall 2011 Season, SOTRU visits the Bronx, New York, the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Southern Wyoming, Cleveland, Ohio, and Sacramento, California.

The one-hour long programs follow the standard NPR Specials (:20/:40) clock and are newscast compatible. The programs are available without charge to all public radio stations, and may be aired an unlimited number of times prior to September 30, 2012. The programs may be streamed live on station websites but not archived. Excerpting is permitted for promotional purposes only.

Earlier seasons of SOTRU remain available by request and can easily be paired with the fall season to create a multiple-week or ongoing strip of programming. Please contact Israel Smith at ismarketing@yahoo.com for rights.

State of the Re:Union is produced by Al Letson, presented by PRX, and co-distributed by NPR and PRX. Major funding for the State of the Re:Union comes from CPB, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Hide full description
