Science Weekly from guardian.co.uk

Recorded in London and presented by Alok Jha, Science Weekly is the Guardian’s regular audio programme aimed at satisfying those who love their inner-geek. Plenty of high-end science but always accessible to all

The programme takes a sideways look at science, environment, medicine and technology using high-quality production values. Entertaining, but with a solid foundation of top-level science at its core.

We aim to surprise the listener every week. A different field of research, visits to the latest science exhibitions, behind the scenes in laboratories, combined with an entertaining take on the week's news.

Our playful presentation style proves we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re not in the business of trying to bamboozle our audience with statistics or complex theories.

We cover every corner of science. From interviews with Nobel Prize winners, through the science behind incest, to revealing the dialling code for the international space station (000-000).

2010 was a great year for Science Weekly as it was named best podcast in the physics.org web awards, and nominated for best science podcast in the worldwide Podcast Awards.

314 episodes, nearly 200 hours and four and a half years of our archive is available online (www.guardian.co.uk/scienceweekly) so listeners can dip into a wealth of information whenever they want. Hide full description
