"Postcards from Cuba"

The University of Alabama has a unique arrangement that allows students to study abroad in Cuba. Alabama Public Radio news director Pat Duggins trained and equipped these young people to produce and record audio diaries of their experiences in Havana. The recordiings were then hand carried out of the country to air throughout April on APR. The series included learning the "in's and out's" of the Cuban marketplaces, playing street basketball "Cuban" style, and finding out what average Cubans really think of the United States. One student, who's Cuban American, also found distant relatives still living on the island nation.
