Contemporary short stories performed by their authors -- usually recorded in the intimacy of their own homes. After some conversation and commentary, the treat is a complete, dramatic story.

Though at the moment you can choose from a mix of half hours and full hours, eventually we will offer an on-going series of hour-long programs. Stories by 21st century authors like ZZ Packer, Tobias Wolff, and Julie Orringer will be mixed in with with stories by 20th century greats, like John Updike, Alice Walker, Eudora Welty and Raymond Carver. The host is Herbert Gold, the novelist, journalist, and sometime teacher at Harvard, Stanford, and Cornell.
