The many meanings of place, discovered in monthly, hour-long "Algonquin Roundtable" gatherings of the notable and knowledgeable, recorded aboard Queen Mary 2.

Destinations as they are and as they exist in literature, painting, film, music and myth. Unlike any travel show on public radio, LINER NOTES is a trip in itself - a not-to-be-missed celebration of wit, wisdom and wanderlust.

Boasting a distinguished production peigree, LINER NOTES was created by Jon Kalish and Marty Goldensohn, and is now being produced by Marty Goldensohn and Jan Albert, and hosted by Paul Holdengraber.

With locations, perspectives, and topics constantly refreshed and expanded by a changing roster of brilliant and accomplished guests, LINER NOTES promises to be unique on public radio: a travel show that provides a memorable monthly journey of its own.

Each monthly program will be keyed to appropriate seasons or holidays. Features recorded on location will deepen the exploration of place in fact and in fantasy. Each conversation will raise themes relating to travel, such as: 'falling in love with a place,' 'the benefits of wandering,' 'lost in translation,' or 'ex-patriot dreams.' This thematic approach has been at the heart of Holdengraber's hugely successful New York Public Library Live series. The conversations will widen to discuss the metaphorical voyages we are all embarked upon, which include literature, love, work, and the world of ideas.
