2 minute features on movies for people over 30

MOVIES FOR GROWNUPS:

Despite Hollywood’s infatuation with youth, half of movie tickets are bought by people over 30. Now there’s a radio series that focuses exclusively on films created by and for this too-often forgotten age group: “Movies for Grownups.” And guess what... while they don’t wow the numbers in the opening weekend, some of these movies are, the highest grossing movies around. Examples: My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Dances With Wolves, and A Beautiful Mind.

This two-minute radio feature previews some the upcoming grown-up movies, revisits what’s great on home video release, and brings us interviews with filmmakers whose work reflects the hopes, dreams, and experience of mature moviegoers.

The host of the series is movie reviewer Bill Newcott, a former New York and Los Angeles film critic and longtime editor of The National Enquirer and National Geographic Magazine. Bill is now the entertainment editor for AARP The Magazine, where he created the annual Chaise d’Or (Golden Chair) awards for Movies for Grownups.
