Bill McCallie has been in the music/entertainment business for over 40 years. His music and travels have taken him over much of the country. In 1972 Bill had one of the first television music shows in Chattanooga Tennessee with his Bluegrass Tennessee Show on the NBC affiliate station in Chattanooga. The show was top rated and lasted 26 weeks. Following that television show, McCallie was recruited by The local CBS affiliate station for a 13 week contract with a similar show called The Bluegrass Express Show. McCallie’s music has always been acoustic and rooted in Americana’s traditional music. Bill has appeared on the prestigious Grand Ole Opry and only recently did a television travelogue called Tennessee River Vacations for the local FOX affiliate station. While working on these special music projects, McCallie has always kept a busy personal appearance and music schedule.

Bill has appeared for 13 yrs at the National Cowboy Symposium in Lubbock Texas and at the Sherman Talent Roundup in Elko Nevada for 5 years. Some of McCallie’s television commercials have run in several markets across the Southeast. In early music career, and for over 17 yrs McCallie and his musicians have played 250 “one nighter” gigs a year, which can be a grueling schedule even without special projects. McCallie and his band In Cahoots present their music each week on the Southern Belle River Boat each Monday and Tuesday evening during the season May thru October. In Cahoots Band has been with the Southern Belle Riverboat Company for 19 years.

McCallie’s radio career began some 18 years ago with WSMC Public Radio in Chattanooga. Having a deep love for Americana and it’s music McCallie launched the Cowboy Jubilee Radio Show. In 2008 the Academy of Western Artist awarded McCallie the Will Rogers Award for Broadcasting with it DJ of the year award. The listening audience of the Cowboy Jubilee Show has placed the show as the top show in the 6pm to 7pm time slot in the entire listening area of Chattanooga and surrounding area. During the years of broadcasting the show McCallie has traveled extensively not only performing his cowboy songs and cowboy poetry but he’s interviewed some of the great artist in the western music and entertainment business. His interviews include Don Edwards, Red Steagal, R W Hampton, Waddie Mitchell, Michael Martin Murphy, Buck Taylor, Richard Farnsworth, Larry Mahan, Patsy Montana, James Drury of the Virginian television series, Roberta Shore, Dan Roberts, Juni Fisher and many others. The Cowboy Jubilee Radio Show has a history of success and continues to grow in popularity with it’s great musical message and timeless cowboy work ethic as well. McCallie takes great pride each week in presenting programs that are informative, entertaining, thought provoking and historically correct.
