Last_waltz_40th_anniversary_small On Thanksgiving night, November 25, 1976, The Band held a "farewell to the road" concert called "The Last Waltz."  Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Hawkins, Ronnie Wood, Ringo Starr were among the performers who came to honor and play with one of the most beloved bands in rock and roll.  Robbie Robertson describes in detail how it evolved from a concert to an event, how he convinced Martin Scorcese to film it and how he never expected it would become what it is today.  Over an hour long you'll hear some musical highlights from the concert, along with interviews with Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Garth Hudson, as well as the late Levon Helm and Rick Danko.  A holiday treat for your listener.

He has won 7 Grammys, an Academy Award, 2 Golden Globe awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010 and the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2012.

He has just published his autobiography, "Not Dead Yet" and released a collection of his singles called "Singles."  Dan Neer interviews Phil about the new collection and autobiography and we hear a 8 songs from the "Singles" collection over the hour.

Crossroads_cover_small Eric Clapton created the Crossroads Healing Center for Alcohol & Drug Dependency on the island of Antigua in 1998.  Eric tells his story in which he almost lost his own life abusing alcohol and drugs, how he came to be sober and why he decided to create the 1st class non-profit Crossroads Center. In order to keep prices low so that 1/2 of the beds at the center go to the people of the Carribean who do not have the money it takes for professional help in overcoming their addiction, Eric raised money by holding three Crossroads Guitar Festivals: 2004 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, 2007 and 2010 just outside of Chicago in Bridgeview, Illinois, and 2013 at NY’s Madison Square Garden. The artists who have played through the years include B.B. King, Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck, Joe Walsh, Steve Winwood, ZZ Top, Sheryl Crow, James Taylor, John Mayer, Jimmy Vaughn, JJ Cale, Gary Clark Jr., Vince Gill and a who's who of the guitar personally selected by Eric Clapton.  On July 1 2016, Rhino Records, released a 3-cd compilation of some blistering performances from the 4 festivals.  This hour long show gets you backstage through the words of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Billy Gibbons, Carlos Santana, Joe Walsh, Steve Winwood and Vince Gill.

Led_zep_-_bbc_artwork_small Led Zeppelin was an incredible live band, known for extended live jams and spontanaeity.  The BBC in 1969-1971 was a tightly run, no-nonsense government run broadcaster in the United Kingdom who were just coping with "rock and roll."  Led Zeppelin appeared at 4 different BBC "venues" in May & June of 1969 for four different sessions, and a final session in 1971 in which they played unreleased music from their seminal "Led Zeppelin IV" album.  The album wouldn't be released for another 6 months!
Listen as Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones themselves tell you the triumphs and challenges the band faced on these sessions and hear how they burned so brightly under these circumstances. On November 13, 2015, he released the soundtrack from that tour. This show features the music and an interview with Roger about the new meanings he's found in his masterwork.
