From John Luttrell | Part of the Full-Time Blues Radio series | 59:01

Madisonville, Kentucky's Boscoe France won the nationwide Battle of the Blues competition for 2012, held by Guitar Center. Boscoe and bassist John Gillespie are in studio for conversation and music.

Boscoe_small Boscoe France first picked up a guitar at the age of three. Influenced by Freddie King, Elmore James, and Duane Allman, it was his uncle Duke who made the biggest impact on his playing. Boscoe's skill with the guitar took him to Nashville and beyond before he came back home to raise his family in 2005.

Now fronting The Boscoe France Band, Boscoe is in the spotlight again, winning the nationwide Guitar Center Battle of the Blues competition - and grabbing $25,000, studio recording time with Grammy winner Pete Anderson, and much, much more. At heart, though, he's still the woodshedding guitarist who approaches his music with a professionalism typically reserved for doctors or craftsmen.

Boscoe France and bassist John Gillespie joined Johnny Full-Time in studio for conversation and music. The guys talk about the band, the Guitar Center competition, and their goals for the future.

In addition, this week's show features news about the passing of Johnnie Bassett and a "Johnny's Mailbox" selection from Dennis Jones.
