Congressman-adam-schiff_small_small They may disagree about nearly every other issue, but many Republican and Democratic congressional representatives find common ground where there is no ground—in space.  Adam Schiff’s California district includes the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.  He is as enthusiastic a fan of the final frontier as you are likely to find under the capitol dome in Washington D.C. Planetary Society Digital Editor Jason Davis has just returned from the famed Mirror Lab at the University of Arizona.  He witnessed the creation of a mirror that will soon become part of the Giant Magellan Telescope.  The International Astronomical Union has made it official.  Bruce Betts is all over the first, confirmed interstellar object to enter our solar system.  He tells us about it in this week’s What’s Up.

The author of "The Chronicles of Narnia" found his "perfect love" late in life

Shadowlands-artwork_small While C.S. Lewis earned great renown for his writings on love in a spiritual context, he lived most of his life as a bachelor, until meeting the American poet Joy Gresham in 1952. And it’s through this enduring friendship that Lewis learns about the power of human love to truly connect him with the divine.
Shadowlands by William Nicholson stars Martin Jarvis as C.S. Lewis and Harriet Harris as Joy Gresham. With Arthur Hanket, Nicholas Hormann, Christopher Neame, Kenneth Schmidt, and  W. Morgan Sheppard. Directed by Jenny Sullivan and recorded live in performance in May 2001.
