This is a raw interview and may require editing and/or mastering before air. When the Rain Returns: Towards Justice and Reconciliation in Palestine and Israel is published by the American Friends Service Committee. Who are peace observers and what do they do? This interview with Kathy is a wonderful representation of how AFSC and Quakers work for non-violence and how "Peace Work" is conducted. Kathy Bergen is the Middle East co-coordinator at the American Friends Service Committee in Philadelphia. She lived and worked in Jerusalem for 9 years and led the Quaker Working Party featured in the book. She returns to Ramallah in March to build the Friends International Center at the Meeting there. Conducted on 1/17/06 it aired on KSFR 90.7FM Santa Fe 1/20. It includes a relation of her experiences on this trip in 2002, direct observations of the situation in Palestine and Israel and conclusions for peace, based on interviews and hands-on experience.
