A conversation with 'Alison' (not her real name), who survived a terrible ordeal.
In 1994 she was abducted by two men and taken to a remote location, where she was at their mercy.
The men - Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger - were acting out a strange psychopathic ritual; they attacked her savagely and left her for dead. But Alison discovered in the middle of this horror, that part of her mind, her self, remained strangely calm, detached and pragmatic.
Despite her terrible injuries she managed to crawl and walk to the edge of the road where she was eventually rescued. Later she faced the men in court, in one of the most sensational criminal trials in South Africa's history.
