One topic that was not on the formal agenda of the summit, but was a big buzz among the attendees, were newly announced budget cuts at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden. NREL is a globally recognized source of innovations in alternative energy technologies. In December, the lab learned that about one hundred of its 950 employees would be cut from the budget.
