I love Merman, and this was a fitting tribute to a woman who was an important part of Broadway history.
Arlen wrote the music for the 1936 film "Strike Me Pink", which gave Merman a solo torch song, a duet with Eddie Cantor and a song that accompanies a big dance production number.

A few corrections.
All Merman shows were hits, not 13 out of 15.
Harold Arlen never wrote for Merman.

Love it !
Drives my mother in law crazy. Great. She hates the screeching.
Personally,I love Merman. She is so quiet. and sensitive, and what perfect diction.
