BOB CHEEVERS Part 3: BROADCAST 8 / 19 / 2012
IN SEARCH OF A SONG originates in BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA and is sponsored by: THE BLUEBIRD NIGHTCLUB , AIRTIME RECORDING STUDIO , and VISIT BLOOMINGTON.COM
Host and executive producer Rich Reardin interviews Texas singer/songwriter Bob Cheevers. Bob Cheevers grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and his mother was a 20's and 30's radio star. Bob went to Los Angeles, and was found by a producer in Hollywood. After success in the 60's as a pop songwriter and performer, Bob became disillusioned with big labels, and chasing hits. He now tours extensively in Europe and the USA, makes Austin, Texas his home and continues to record extensively.
Topics discussed include: Songwriting in regards to where you are considering locations in the world, and being influenced by dramatic differences in culture, and different countries or areas of the US, the title track Fiona's World, and the story behind Fiona and how she influenced Bob's songwriting for quite some time, writing 16 songs in a symbiotic artistic relationship as she would create artwork about each song, and he would write songs about her drawings, how an entire album emerged from their creative relationship, putting 'furniture' into a song (many images in a song), about his newest record "Tall Texas Tales", about the song "Mushroom Cloud Lil" about Oppenheimer's daughter, about his songs "Grown Up People", and "One Good Rib".
Musical selections include: What I've Done For Love, Fiona's World, Plans to Meet In Paris, Pictures of Strangers, Only Roses, Mushroom Cloud Lil, Grown Up People, One Good Rib.
