When the world has labelled you a monster, how can you ever become a human again?  Kay DeMartini signs up to be an anonymous pen pal to a convicted murderer, but when a lawyer asks her to reveal her identity, how can she still stay safe?  Kay is storyteller who hosts Real Stories Bay Area once a month.

A Prayer for the Past
A devout Catholic has a philosophical debate with himself about sin and forgiveness after he comes to learn more than he wants to know a priest in his church.  This is a haunting elegy by Jack McCarthy, a veteran performer, poet and storyteller whose book, Say Goodnight, Grace Notes, was released in 2003 by EM Press to rave reviews. His work has appeared in a number of anthologies, including The Spoken Word Revolution and the film Slamnation .  Jack currently resides in Seattle, Washington.
