In honor of the passing of one of the great wits of our generation, David Rakoff, we’re re-airing our Wordstock Book Festival show from 2010. David was on the show to talk about his book, “Half Empty,” which extolled the virtues of defensive pessimism and outlined his trailblazing trip…to Utah. Also on the show, Sarah Jackson Holman, a young singer who’s already garnered comparisons to Adele and Norah Jones, the hilarious Steve Almond in a battle over the literary merits of Twitter, and “Chronic City” author Jonathan Lethem. All that, plus music from our house band led by Ralph Huntley, poet Scott Poole, and comedy from Faces for Radio Theater, who ask the question, “If Fabio wrote poetry, would it flow as beautifully as his hair?” It’s asked and answered on this episode of Live Wire Radio.
Our first of two shows from this year's acclaimed Wordstock Literary Festival. Listen to David Rakoff's incredibly funny interview (you won't get any inspirational life lessons...or will you?), learn about how author Jonathan Lethem creates a virtual NYC in "Chronic City,"enjoy the music from Sara Jackson-Holman, who has recently been compared to Norah Jones and Adele, and as always, gaffaw at original sketch comedy from our comedy troupe, Faces For Radio Radio Theater.
