Israeli born and New York trained bassist Avishai Cohen began playing in NYC in the Latin band of Panamanian Danilo Perez, feeling right at home as a part of a tight rhythm section. Israeli born and New York trained bassist Avishai Cohen began playing in NYC in the Latin band of Panamanian Danilo Perez, feeling right at home as a part of a tight rhythm section. But it was Chick Corea and his sextet Origin that provide the real training for this talented bass player.  After releasing 4 albums under Corea’s Stretch label he decided to venture out on his own, forming his own trio and his own label, Razdaz Recordz. A consummate performer and composer his tunes are some of the finest modern jazz compositions around and may become the standards for the next generation.

We'll listen again to his music focusing on his latest release “Duende” as well as other recordings. Be prepared for some great music!!  Enjoy!
