- Chris Kuborn
If you have listened to the show even casually you know that one of my favorite groups is the Swedish piano Trio - The Esbjorn Svensson Trio - or EST. The Trio are: Esbjörn Svensson (piano), Dan Berglund (double bass) and Magnus Öström (drums); and they rank for me with the greats of Modern Jazz like Medeski, Martin and Wood. We have only their recordings and live performances to remember as Svensson passed away in 2008, but their music has legs and will live on for a long time. As we contune this Summer of Live Jazz, I just had to include of show of their music as it was always meant to be heard, Live!! Check them out this week in Paris from 2005, in Germany at the Jazz Baltica Fest in both 1997 and 2003 as well as in their homeland Sweden in 2007. This is Modern Jazz - I think you will like the energy this band brings to the genre! Enjoy!
