The program begins with songs of personal disconnection between family members. The last of the set is actually a song of reunification by Dock Boggs. Boggs had a musical career in the late 1920s and was rediscovered in the 1950s by Mike Seeger. The Gem of Bluegrass assesses the career of Mike Seeger. Guests Lyle Lofgren and Adam Granger help with that feature, as with the later appreciation of the New lost City Ramblers.
