Mom and the AFL-CIO have an important new message for America's working people. "Eat your veggies," they say, "and join a union."
Many moms of course know that unionized workers earn more than their non-union counterparts, that they have better benefits, have better working conditions and have stronger voices in what goes on in their workplaces. They have a much stronger voice than non-union workers in off-the-job political activities as well.
And now comes a Duke University study that suggests, as the AFL-CIO gladly notes, that, quote, "labor unions also are good for your health."
You can't legitimately argue with that conclusion whether you are pro-union or anti-union.
The Duke study was based on a sampling of more than 11 thousand full-time union and non-union workers who answered questions about their general health. It showed clearly that there are many more unionized workers wh...
