WATER I HOLD... Read the full description.

Br_logo_small Water I hold
Though riddled with holes.
What am I?

This is a riddle about a sponge.   All of us know that, whether it's an argument or a bucket, things riddled with holes don't hold water - or so Dear Liza impressed upon Willy.   And that's the very incongruity at the heart of this riddle:  that something full of holes is water tight.   In the case of a sponge, it's surface tension that makes it work.  Each of the little holes acts as tiny holding tanks, until the surface tension is broken when the sponge is wrung out.   Other holey answers?  How about the human body, or soil, or a golf course.

NEW RIDDLE:
I'm the ruler of the Kingdon
My domain:  length, height, and depth
Imperialistic, conquering
Your ruler's under threat.
(answer:  see 6/30/12 piece)
