DAVID SHIELDS - David is one of the foremost writers in the country on the subject of memoir, including his controversial Reality Hunger: A Manifesto. Most recently, he edited The Inevitable: Contemporary Writers Confront Death. His forthcoming work is The Private War of J.D. Salinger.
