- Jazz Odyssey #268 - LIVE! - Hour 2
- From
- Chris Kuborn
This week I am starting a series of shows featuring Live music. This is the Summer and that means Jazz Festivals around the world. This music was meant to be played live. It's great that we can take our music everywhere, and I love listening to Modern Jazz anywhere I go, but recorded jazz leaves a litle out of the musical equation. Sure we have a captured improvisation on a recording but see an artist twice, three times, playing the same piece and the improv will be different each time. They feed off the audioence, other players and the things they have gone through in the last few days. Live performance gives them the opportunity to show the feelings they are experienceing at that moment. I realize the irony of playing a Live "recording", but at least it was live with an audience at that point and time. Check out the show but more importantly check out live Jazz - it's Festival Season so get out there and listen to Live Jazz musicians. Enjoy!!
