Galban_small In this hour of The Blues & Beyond, the final testament of guitarist Manuel Galbán, known for his work with the Buena Vista Social Club, and years before with Cuba's famed Los Zafiros. In 2010 a year before he died, Galbán recorded the album "Blue Cha Cha," co-produced by his daughter, pianist and arranger Magda Rosa Galbán. The album, released in June 2012, includes a DVD documentary with interviews with the guitarist about his life and music. We'll also hear from Eric Bibb, both as a guest on "Blue Cha Cha," and from his own recent album Deeper In The Well, and we'll spotlight a new album from Detroit bluesman Johnnie Bassett called "I Can make that Happen" (and he does!). We'll also play a couple of other Detroit-related blues songs from decades ago, from Blind Bale and Charlie Spand, and John Lee Hooker - - plus a new song from Cassandra Wilson on her latest album "Another Country."
