On Wednesday, April 11th, U.S. Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter visited Indiana University to hold a town hall meeting on the topic of College Affordability in America. Kanter spoke to the crowd about the Department of Education’s student loan repayment options and initiatives, and heard input from local students and educators. Yesterday, Senate Republicans blocked a proposal from the Democrats to tax wealthier earners to avoid the hike in interest rates on student loans scheduled to go into effect July 1st.
